Be amazed with Afri-Frans at Emperors Palace

02 July 2010

The spectacular stage production, Afri-Frans, has gripped the imagination and hearts of theatre-goers countrywide and finally graces the Theatre of Marcellus stage at Emperors Palace from 25 to 29 August 2010.

Afri-Frans is filled with South African nostalgia including much loved English and Afrikaans music (interwoven with French) performed by the renowned songstress, Myra Maud. Maud's inherent charm immediately captivates the audience and lingers in the atmosphere long after the last note has played. The Afri-Frans project was conceptualised by the formidable and highly-talented composer, jazz pianist, producer, sound engineer and entrepreneur, Matthys Maree. With Maud as vocalist, Maree has successfully positioned the project in an open international arena, the songs are modern and seductive, and Maree's reworking of the music has made the songs within reach of today's generation".

Maree has a limitless passion for France, and through this fascination South Africans will experience the romantic French culture, that fuelled his vision for Afi-Frans. Maree promoted his vision and reached gold within the first two weeks of Afri-Frans' release in August 2009.

Maud has performed with the likes of Celine Dion, Ron Kenoly, Johnny Hallyday and Mireille Mathieu in recent years, and is accompanied on the Afri-Frans stage by SAMA-winning performer and songwriter, Anna Davel. Their voices intertwine magically as they create memorable musical moments, moving with ease between languages that leave the audience completely captivated. Joining them are Matthys Maree on piano, Denny Lalouette on bass, David Klassen on drums and Mauritz Lotz on guitar.

From the very first note of Afri-Frans, every emotion is stirred - ranging from nostalgia and longing to love and patriotism. No-one leaves the Afri-Frans show without being moved in some way...
