Tantalising Thai Food Festival at Emperors Palace

Emperors Palace, in association with Jet Airways and The Dusit Thani hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, are proud to host the Thai Food Festival at Emperors Palace from 31 October to 7 November. Fans of Thai cuisine will be tantalised by exotic flavours and spices at this international food spectacle that will be respectively hosted at Aurelia’s Restaurant in the D’oreale Grande hotel and at Queen of the Nile buffet restaurant. will be tantalised by exotic flavours and spices at this international food spectacle.

Overlooking the beautiful manicured lawns and pool area, Aurelia's Restaurant has hosted a number of popular food festivals over the past several years, offering a melting pot of delicious international flavours. International Thai Culinary experts, Chefs Sakarin Honglattanvolakit, Surasak Kongsawat and Arporn Kummalue have been flown in especially for the festival, offering guests a visual delight as well as an explosion of unique flavours for the palate, alongside Emperors Palace Executive Sous Chef Ronald Ramsamy. "It is a privilege to have such talented chefs come share their vast culinary expertise with us during this Thai food festival," says Chef Ronald.

The three talented chefs joining Emperors Palace over the festival hail from the leading Thai owned hotel The Dusit Thani hotel in Bangkok which boasts an impressive 10 restaurants. Preparing quality dishes for over a thousand guests per night ranging from delicate Thai noodles to fresh prawn and seafood dishes, these chefs come to South Africa equipped with unique skills and experience.

Presently, the award-winning Chef Surasak Kongsawat has the honour of being the head Chef at Benjarong Royal Thai Cuisine Restaurant of Dusit Thani Bangkok. With his 20 years of experience, Chef Surasak's focus is always on creating world-famous Thai cuisine for all guests. Besides his passion for cooking, which can be tasted in every bite of his delicious creations, Surasak has remarkable skill in fruits and vegetables carving, having won over 15 medals in this category.

The only female chef joining this talented trio on their visit to South Africa is Chef Arporn Kummalue, the Veteran Banqueting chef at the Dusit Thani hotel. Chef Arporn has mastered a unique culinary skill with her technical finesse in fruit and vegetable carving. She has entered and won several culinary competitions, and joined numerous Thai food promotions around the world demonstrating her speciality.

The third chef participating in the Thai food festival at Emperors Palace is the creative Chef Sakarin Hongrattanavorakit. At just 30 years old, this young chef has shown incredible skill in his short years as a commis chef. Skilled in the decor and preparation of fine dishes, this young chef has won several competitions creating the ultimate presentation on a plate with the use of flowers, carved fruit and vegetables.

The Emperors Palace food festivals have become a firm favourite amongst novices and culinary experts alike, and the Thai food festival is no different. Wayne Hill, Emperors Palace General Manager for Hotels and Resort Operations says, "We are very excited to host the Thai food festival this year. The delicate yet spicy flavours of Thai food are incredibly popular worldwide and we look forward to welcoming these three talented chefs into our midst to share their wealth of knowledge with us."

Hundreds of guests have experienced one of the many food festivals that have become synonymous with the elegant Aurelia's Restaurant, and the authentic Thai cuisine that will be shared with guests will introduce their palates to new and exciting flavours. "International food festivals have become synonymous with Emperors Palace and we endeavour to continue to host respected international chefs at our food festivals well into the future," Wayne Hill continued.

The Thai Food Festival will start at Aurelia's Restaurant with a Thai barbeque on 31 October for R175 per person. The Thai Wine and Dine Evening on 4 November will treat guests to a special 6 course set menu in Aurelia's Restaurant at R290 per person. From 5 to 7 November the Egyptian themed Queen of the Nile will host a Thai buffet with live cooking stations for only R125 per person. An exciting addition to the festival is a Thai high-tea at Aurelia's Restaurant on 6 November for R95 per person. The Thai Food Festival will end off with a Thai barbeque at Aurelia's Restaurant on 7 November and is R175 per person
