Thumbs up to Emperors Palace as normal business resumes
29 April 2013
The Emperors Palace casino resort, located next to O.R. Tambo International Airport, has resumed normal operations following the successful prevention of an armed robbery on Sunday morning by police and the resort’s security and surveillance division.
Emperors Palace management and staff worked tirelessly to ensure the resort was closed for the shortest possible period of time. Guests were welcomed back onto the resort on Sunday afternoon and business returned to normal, which included a full house comedy show on Sunday evening.
“A strong collaborative effort between the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the Emperors Palace Surveillance and Security divisions ensured the prevention of a potentially worse incident and the perpetrators being apprehended,” says Julie van Wyk, Emperors Palace spokesperson.
“The support from local residents, guests, staff, media and the community at large has been incredible. The little girl, who sustained a hand injury, grazes to her ear and head, is recovering and in good spirits - conversing and colouring in her colouring book at a local hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery and hope she will be home soon.”
“Emperors Palace security remains a core focus and the safety and security of our guests and staff, whilst enjoying our resort facilities, is our primary concern. Our commitment in this regard will continue to be prioritised as we help our country combat the scourge of crime.”
