For Immediate Release
"Jubilee" - A Dazzling New Cabaret Revue Celebrating the 10th Birthday of Emperors Palace
As part of the 10th Birthday Celebrations, Emperors Palace Hotel Casino Resort proudly presents the sensational cabaret revue, "Jubilee", a Tyrone Watkins production celebrating 10 sensational years of electrifying entertainment with a bevy of dazzling dancers and three multi-talented singers.
"Jubilee" explodes onto the stage with a tribute to the opening of the Emperors Palace resort itself, a glorious Roman inspired sequence with a gravity-defying speciality strength act wherein two Gladiators wage battle in a dynamic and spectacular routine.
The show then seamlessly transitions into a celebration of Casinos and the world class artists that have graced their stages around the globe. From the heydays of the Brat Pack in Vegas with "Luck be a Lady Tonight", "Viva Las Vegas" and "Gimme the Night" followed by a breathtaking angelic net flying solo speciality act through to today's current mega-stars - the Pussycat Dolls, Miley Cyrus and Beyoncé, the style is energetic, funky and exceptionally edgy!
The featured adagio to Josh Groban's "You raise me up", stars 2008 British Open Professional Invitational Exhibition Champions, Craig Smith and Natalie Woolfe, and their pas de deux incorporates spectacular lift work through strength and agility, with the aesthetic beauty and fluidity of classic dance.
The second half of "Jubilee" hails the theme of the 10th Birthday Celebrations, Party at the Palace, starting with an African "Jol" - a rainbow mix of rhythms and cultures from "Daar kom die Alabama" and "January, February, March" to "IpiTombi" and "Shambala" - light and upbeat with a touch of comedy, Koekemoer-style.
World Exhibition Dance Champions, Nic Dawson and Cherese Black then take to the stage to perform an incredible bungee-trapeze flying adage, with true acrobatic artistry and the vocalists follow with a selection empowering ballads including "One Moment in Time", "It's My Turn" and "Somewhere Out There" which will touch your heart and your soul.
Then it's off to the world's most colourful and vibrant celebration, the Rio Carnival, with fabulous feathers and pulsating beats - "Samba de Janeiro", "Do you wanna dance" and "When my baby goes to Rio", incorporating a traditional Capoeira performance. The finale builds to a crescendo with Ricky Martin's "Cup of Life" and layer upon layer of dance and music, guaranteed to have the audiences on their feet and calling for more!
"Jubilee" features three incredibly talented singers. Desiree Hennings, former member of the girl band "Shine 4", has become incredibly popular with a variety of stage productions for the Barnyard Theatres and has performed at Emperors Palace in "Inferno", "Let's Party" and "Boogie Nights". Desiree is joined by dynamic husband and wife team Kurt Michaels and Tia Reece. Kurt began his career as part of the Coca Cola Popstars winners "101" while Tia is a successful recording artist in her own right. The couple appeared in "Ovation" and "Broadway" at Emperors Palace.
The featured dancers Craig Smith, Natalie Woolf, Nic Dawson and Cherese Black are joined by Hayley Bennet, Dale Scrimegour, Danielle Swartz and Natasha Strydom.
"Jubilee" has been conceptualized and directed by Tyrone Watkins, a stalwart of the entertainment industry in South Africa, who has become even more of a household name thanks to the exceptionally popular "Strictly Come Dancing" on which he is both a judge and intricately involved in the production.
The show is choreographed by Tyrone Watkins, Craig Smith, Nic Dawson and Kurt Michaels with music and audio visual elements by Rob Pucci. Costumes were designed by Hayley Bennet and manufactured by Starcreations. Lighting design was done by Kevin Stennet with sound by V2 Audio.
"Jubilee" can be seen at The Odeon Showbar at Emperors Palace from October for six months. The show is performed Wednesdays to Saturdays with the entry fee of R40 per person on Wednesdays and Thursdays and R50 per person on Fridays and Saturdays.
