Gauteng’s entertainment mecca, Emperors Palace presents superstar Sean Kingston, brought to you by MXIT and O Music in association with 94.7 Highveld Stereo, exclusive for 2 shows only this February.
The Miami-born, Jamaican-raised Sean Kingston's tour to South Africa culminates with the release of his third album, and comes off the back of two of the biggest hits of 2010 - "Eeenie Meenie' with Justin Bieber (with whom Sean toured recently on the latter's My World 2.0 Tour) and "Letting Go (Dutty Love)" with Trinidadian rapper Nicki Minaj.
Kingston's debut single, "Beautiful Girls" (2007) became a smash hit in South Africa, burning its way up the radio and retail charts - and earning the (then) teenager an instant place in the heart of music fans across South Africa. Since then albums like "Beautiful Girls" have consistently delivered a fresh mix of rap, reggae, pop and doo-wop to his large local fan base. His latest album "Tomorrow", released in 2009 features the number one single, "Fire Burning", as well as production from a number of top-drawer names (Wyclef Jean; RedOne) among them - all eager to work with the prodigiously talented singer and songwriter.
Fittingly for an artist who was discovered via MySpace (by Tommy Rotem of the Beluga Heights label who signed Kingston in a partnership deal with Sony), the talented performer has become one of the biggest selling artists in the digital download world. At a recent estimate he had sold over six million digital singles and 4.5 million ringtones - with a significant portion of these downloads from South Africa.
For Sean, coming to South Africa feeds into the kind of performance he loves. His reply to a comment on his official website (www.seankingston.com) about coming to South Africa in 2011: "I don't have no problems with locations, like, wherever I gotta go for a show I gotta go for a show. I like coming to these places, I like the smaller places because to be honest with you they appreciate it more... you know they just wanna bug out and have a good time."
The show will be performed on 25 and 26 February in the Centre Court at Emperors Palace. Tickets start from R350 per person and can be booked through the Emperors Palace Box Office on 011 928 1297 or Computicket on 083 915 8000 or www.computicket.co.za.
