Don’t miss the Emperors Palace Cycle Classic

Cycling enthusiasts take note! The Emperors Palace Cycling Classic, scheduled over the weekend of 5 and 6 February 2011, is set to take Gauteng by storm. Presented by Emperors Palace and Cycling News in partnership with the Airports Company of South Africa, Ekurhuleni Metro Police, Powerade, Edenvale Pedallers, the Germiston Rotary Club, Germiston Wheelers and passionate local cycling shop Sweat and Gears, this annual road race should not be missed!
The Emperors Palace Cycle Classic, now in its fourth year, has turned into notable success story with a total of more than 5000 riders taking part in the road and mountain bike events last year. The big change in the 2010 event was a revamp of the road-race course which received only favourable comments from participants. As a result the course has remained unchanged this year.
Saturday, February 5th, sees the staging of the popular Emperors Palace Mountain Bike Classic which offers a 20km and 40 km off-road route. Sunday, February 6th, is reserved for road cyclists with a 50km and 99km route option. Sunday also sees the popular Kids Classic for children aged 2 to 4 and 5 to 8-at 10h00, followed by the action packed Circuit Spectacular at 11h00.
Entry fees for the road race are R120 (50km) and R190 (99km), and for the mountain race are R90 (20km) and R140 (40km). Registration for the Emperors Palace Cycle Classic takes place at the following venues:
- 3 February: Cycle Lab (10h00 - 16h00)
- 4 February: Emperors Palace (10h00 - 16h00)
- 5 February: Emperors Palace (08h15 - 15h00)
